COMPOSITION
Each enteric (resin) coated tablet contains
Mesalamine U.S.P. …………… 400 mg

INDICATIONS
1. Treatment of mild to moderate acute exacerbations of ulcerative colitis.
2. Maintenance of remission of ulcerative colitis.
3. Induction of remission of mildly active ulcerative colitis.
4. Maintenance of remission in Crohn's ileocolitis.

DOSAGE AND ADMINISTRATION
For the initial treatment or induction of remission in Ulcerative Colitis
2 tablets of 400mg administered three times a day i.e. a total daily dose of 2.4g
After an initial control of the disease, the dose may be stepped down as a maintenance dose, which generally ranges from 800mg - 2400mg daily in three divided doses. The treatment should be continued indefinitely.

For the treatment and maintenance of remission in proven Crohn's ileocolitis
The treatment is to be continued indefinitely. For treating mild to moderately active disorders, a very high dose is necessary upto 4g daily in divided doses. In certain inactive disease cases, a dose of 2g daily was shown to be effective as maintenance treatment when given within 3 months of achieving remission.
