OF ACTION OF METOCLOPRAMIDE |
Metoclopramide prevents and relieves nausea and vomiting by
three specific mechanisms:
a) Decreases the sensitivity of the visceral nerves which transmit
afferent impulses from the pylorus and duodenum to the vomiting
center. Thus, the intensity of impulses caused by local emetics
is decreased and the vomiting is relieved.
b) Has a direct action on the chemoreceptor trigger zone, adjacent
to the vomiting center raising its threshold of activity and
thus preventing vomiting caused by centrally acting emetics.
c) Restores normal motility to the upper gut. This may be an
important factor in preventing vomiting by local irritation,
and vomiting associated with conditions such as peptic ulceration
and refulx oesophagitis.

OF ACTION OF MPS (ACTIVATED DIMETHICONE) |
MPS
(Activated dimethicone) relieves flatulence by dispensing and
preventing formation of mucus surrounding gas pockets in the
gastro-intestinal tract.
MPS (Activated dimethicone) lowers the surface tension of the
gas bubbles enabling them to coalesce i.e. small bubbles join
together to form large ones. Thus the gas is freed by belching
or passing flatus. |

BEHIND MAXERON MPS COMBINATION |
Maxeron
MPS is a combination of metoclopramide that has action on upper
gastro-intestinal motility as well as anti-emetic action with
MPS (Activated dimethicone) which provides antiflatulent activity.
Conditions such as flatulent dyspepsia and postoperative distension
may be due to motility disturbances as well as entrapped gas.
This can be effectively relieved by a combination such as Maxeron
MPS.
As described earlier the starting point of the problem of flatulent
dyspepsia is gastric stasis. The retention of food also triggers
the fermentation reaction and accumulation of gas.
Hence, an ideal treatment of the flatulent dyspepsia syndrome
would be to correct the gastric stasis and also liberate the
entrapped gas.
This is precisely what Maxeron MPS does. It combines:- Maxeron
: that regulates upper G.I. motility and controls nausea vomiting.
MPS (Dimethicone) : that liberates the entrapped gas.
Thus Maxeron MPS takes care of the total gastric dyspepsia syndrome,
a common problem associated with dietetic indiscretion

|
Flatulent
Dyspepsia, Gastric Distention, Postoperative G.I. disorders,
Nausea and Vomiting, Functional digestive disorders.

| DOSAGE
|
1-2
tablets to be chewed half an hour before meals. Maximum dose
not to exceed 6 tablets a day.
|
| EFFECTS |
Occasional side effects of metoclopramide include drowsiness,
urticarial skin rash and dryness of the mouth. Rarely, extrapyramidal
reactions have been observed. These consist of restlessness,
occasionally involuntary movement of limbs and facial grimacing;
and rarely torticollis, oculogyric crisis or trismus.
